NodalDesk's normal flow is account-based: you create your account, your devices get linked to it and, for your own machines, you don't need to type codes by hand. The QR and PIN are still there as an extra security layer and as a shortcut to validate or add a device. The host identifies itself with its own credentials so future connections don't ask you for anything each time.
On a controllable Linux computer, start NodalDesk. On Android, open host mode from the app. The host sets up screen, audio, input and connection data.
From Android, desktop or web, sign in with your account: your machines appear because they're yours. To validate or add a device with an extra step, you can scan the QR or type the 6-digit PIN, which rotates every few minutes.
Use a name you can recognize, like "Studio PC" or "Workshop Tablet". The NodalDesk experience moves toward a clear list of machines, not technical hostnames.
The simple model is to pick a machine and decide what you want to do: control it from this device, or share this device toward another. The network route should be resolved underneath.
The client stores device credentials. In later sessions you shouldn't have to repeat any validation step unless you remove or revoke the machine.
Screen, input, audio and clipboard are part of the remote. Terminal and files are advanced capabilities and require explicit activation in the technical model.
Clients
The web client needs no installation and requires a modern browser with WebCodecs, like Chrome, Edge or Opera. The Android app adds touch gestures, zoom, two-finger scroll and an on-screen keyboard. The desktop app uses Electron and is available as a client for Linux, Windows and macOS.
If you're outside the local network, NodalDesk uses relay to cross strict NATs and reach your machines wherever you are.
