Prepare the PC
The PC you want to control must be a Linux or Windows desktop host. Install NodalDesk with the matching release package and start the host. The usual path is to sign in with your account: your machines get linked to it and, for your own devices, you don't need to type codes by hand. If you want to validate or add a machine with an extra step, the host can also show a URL, a QR and a 6-digit PIN.
If you're on the same network, the host announces UDP beacons on port
19876 and answers discovery requests. That lets the Android app find
machines without forcing you to type the IP.
Install the Android app
Android ships as an APK. You can install it from releases or build it from the project if you're working in development. If you install it outside a store, Android may ask you to allow installs from external sources.
Link the device to your account
Open NodalDesk on Android and sign in with your account: your machines appear because they're yours, without asking for a visible PIN. If you'd rather add or validate a machine with an extra security step, you can scan the host's QR or enter the address manually and type the PIN. Either way, the app stores the device credentials to connect later without repeating the process.
Give the machine a recognizable name. The technical address is for the system; you care about telling "Studio PC" from "Workshop Server" apart without reading a raw hostname.
Use gestures made for mobile
The Android app supports tap, drag, pinch-to-zoom, two-finger scroll and an on-screen QWERTY keyboard. Video decodes with MediaCodec when the device allows it.
If the connection goes over relay or mobile network, expect more latency than on LAN. For fine work, it helps to adjust quality and avoid switching networks mid-session.
Wake the PC from Android
If the profile has a stored MAC, Android can send a Wake-on-LAN packet. The app
requires Wi-Fi for this attempt, sends the broadcast to port 9, waits a
few seconds and checks whether the host responds.
Wake-on-LAN requires the PC to be ready in BIOS/UEFI and the system. If the machine doesn't wake, switching apps won't fix it: you need to check the network and the power settings.
